NHL 2021 Proposed Schedule

The 2021 NHL season is up in the air right now, and if it were up to me I would do the bubble system again, this time in 8 Canadian cities (with Quebec City lending a hand). Teams will play within their conference.

48 games broken up into 4 sessions, 12 games each. Each session will take place in a different bubble city for every team. The above image is the first session, the remaining 3 sessions would see all the teams shuffled around within their conference.

All games will be against opponents in the same conference. There are 4 western bubble cities, 4 eastern bubble cities. Teams will play each other 4 times in each session (in the Winnipeg bubble, teams will play each other 6 times). The schedule:

  • First Session: Bubble City A – 12 games (followed by 10-day break)
  • Second Session: Bubble City B – 12 games (followed by 10-day break)
  • Third Session: Bubble City C – 12 games (followed by 10-day break)
  • Fourth Session: Bubble City D – 12 games (followed by 3-day break)
  • Playoffs will take place in all 8 bubble cities, to prevent the triple OT madness that happened this year.

Each session will take about 24 – 26 days. The 10-day breaks between sessions will allow players to visit their families, and to travel between the bubble cities. The shorter 3-day break before the playoffs is just for travel. So this season will still take about 6 and a half months to play.

Watchmen Hockey Jerseys

A long time ago I posted a design for a Watchmen hockey jersey, and a Chicago beer league team asked to use it. They just started play in their new duds and they look great!

Watchmen Hockey Jerseys

They added some great new details, like an inverse nameplate, Pyramid Int’l logos, and a wraparound slogan (“The End Is Nigh”). I’m geeking-out over these details.

Brooklyn Bisons

Next up is a design I was asked to make for a kids rec-league team based in Brooklyn. The Bisons recently started their season as well. They’ll also get a few other jersey designs in the not-too-distant future, I look forward to sharing those here.

Mad Max Hockey Jerseys

You might recall that a few months ago I posted some designs commissioned by a diehard Mad Max fan, and the jerseys just got back from the assembly line and they look awesome. I’m partial to the white one.

Every once in a while I’ll be sharing some designs that teams have asked me to make for them. Recently I completed a design for a team called the Battle Hamsters, can’t wait to share that here!

I’m thinking of putting together a new photo gallery section on this site, so if you snapped a pic wearing one of my jersey designs (be it on the ice or at a comic-con), please email me the pic(s) and I will be more than happy to post it here or on my new Tumblr blog (yup, another blog).

Welcome To My Geeky Hockey Blog – The Home Of Geeky Hockey Jerseys!

Hi there, my name is Dave Delisle, and you may know me from Dave’s Geeky Ideas. I started that blog to cover a wide array of topics, and I will continue to do so there. Dave’s Geeky Hockey (which is unpleasant to say aloud) will function as a companion blog of sorts. Its purpose: all things hockey for the geeks who want to taint* the game.

The second blog is because my love of geek culture began to assimilate another love of mine – hockey. This resulted in many geek/hockey abominations*, mostly in the form of hockey jersey designs. Redditors then clamored for these designs, and Rinkgear was able to cater these team orders.

The hockey jersey orders were taking over in popularity, to the point where I’m starting to plot a course for orders which would take place months from now. It’s always troubling (and painful) when I have to think that far ahead.

This blog will be dedicated to geeky hockey jersey designs, jersey team orders, hockey ideas, and the odd hockey rant. All the announcements, news, and updates regarding jersey orders will take place here. Bookmark this site — make it so.

It looks pretty sparse right now – lotsa blank space. I’ll get to the design eventually! I have a look in mind that will engage visitors.

*The negative connotations were inspired by a comment someone made of my jersey designs elsewhere on the interweb: “HOCKEY IS NOT GEEKY!” — challenge accepted.
